Royal Sovereign Stakes 2012 – Nominations Released

14 horses have been nominated for the 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes at Warwick Farm this Saturday February 18, 2012.

Manawanui is one of 14 three-year-olds that have nominated for a run in the 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes.

The Oratorio gelding has won six of his nine race starts and has earned more than $1.2 million in prize money.

Manawanui won the $1 million Golden Rose last spring, along with the Group 3 Up & Coming Stakes and the Group 2 Mitchelton Wine Vase.

The three-year-old finished sixth in his last start in the Group 1 Victoria Derby at Flemington behind Sangster.

Hot Snitzel is also included in the 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes nominations.

The Snitzel gelding has won four of his 11 race starts and has earned more than $500,000 in prize money.

Hot Snitzel won the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes last spring, before finishing sixth in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in October.

The 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes will be Hot Snitzel’s first appearance for the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Hot Snitzel will be looking to build upon his barrier trail performance in the 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes, where he finished second by a nose over 900 metres on February , 2012, at Rosehill.
