The 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes will be contested by start three-year-old Manawanui, who won the $1 million Golden Rose last spring.

Manawanui will resume in the autumn after a successful spring carnival that also saw him win the Group 2 Mitchelton Wines Vase and finish a close second in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas behind Helmet.

Bede Murray has also announced his young colt Darci Be Good will resume in the 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes.

Darci Be Good has been spelling since his close second to Doctor Doom in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes on October 1.

“A lot could happen after his first couple of runs,” Murray said.

“(But) he’s done a treat.

“I’m very, very happy with the decision we’ve made and the way he’s come back. Since he’s been out he’s matured mentally and I think he’s on the right track.”

The 2012 Royal Sovereign Stakes will take place on the same day as the Group 2 Breeders Classic, Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes, Listed Widden Stakes and Listed Canonbury Stakes.
